Wild Will Tomlinson
Defeats Malcolm Klassen
To Retain IBO Super Featherweight Title
In the face of
adversity, 'Wild' Will Tomlinson (21-0-1, 12 KOs) overcame a
brave performance from Malcolm 'Stone' Klassen (27-6-2, 14 KOs)
to retain his IBO super-featherweight title via a controversial
unanimous points decision in an enthralling battle of wills at
The Melbourne Pavilion overnight.
All three judges looked favorably towards the defending champion
for his controlled aggression and punch output, distributing
disputed verdicts of 117-110 and 118-109 twice in Tomlinson's
favour. That said, Klassen, 31, will leave Australia with his
head held high after pushing Tomlinson all the way with a

Entertainment, Thompson Boxing Promotions, Universal Promotions,
Prize Fight, Joe Deguardia’s Star Boxing, and Zanfer Promotions
presented an amazing night of boxing at the Turning Stone

Abregu (34-1, 28 KOs) defeated former undefeated Puerto Rican
contender, Thomas Dulorme (16-1, 12 KOs) by way of seventh round
TKO to capture the WBC International welterweight title.
Dulorme set the pace early as he boxed and used his jab to keep
Abregu at bay. But in the third round, Abregu landed a powerful
right hand and dropped the undefeated contender Dulrome. Thomas
took the full 8-count and regained his composure for the time
being. In the very next round, Dulorme started to use lateral
movement and it gave Abregu problems. Just as it seemed Dulorme
was starting to find a rhythm, Abregue landed a left hook and
sent Thomas to the canvas once again. Abregu’s right hands had
found a home and Dulorme was still on wobbly legs and his corner
stopped the fight. Click Here For More

Dulorme prepared to
pass Abregu test on HBO
By Mariano A. Agmi
- fightnews
Twenty-two year old blue chip prospect Thomas Dulorme (16-0, 12
KOs) faces the stiffest test of his professional career on
Saturday when he battles rugged Argentine Luis Carlos Abregu
(33-1, 29 KOs) in a twelve round welterweight bout from the
Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York, live on HBO.
Sporting an amateur record of 140-2, Dulorme is the cornerstone
of “Team Puerto Rico,” a group of boxers jointly promoted by
Gary Shaw, Lou DiBella and Universal Promotions.
Dulorme, born in St. Martin but raised in Carolina, Puerto Rico,
believes his wins over Harrison Cuello (KO 2), Charlie Navarro
(W 9) and former WBO junior welterweight champion DeMarcus “Chop
Chop” Corley (W 10) have prepared him for the power punching
Abregu, a limited but tough-as-nails Argentine who has only lost
to current WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley. Click Here For More

Explosive puncher,
Jorge "Machito" Maysonet, Jr. (9-0, 8 KO's) is training very
hard for his next fight on Friday, October 26, at the Roque Nido
Stella Coliseum in Guayama, Puerto Rico.
His opponent will be one of the most evaded fighters in Puerto
Rico. Half Dominican, half Puerto Rican, Ramesis Gil (8-4-5, 5
KO's) has had a spectacular 2012 with victories over then
undefeated Carney Bowman (16-1, 7 KO's) from Pennsylvania and
Luis Joel González (9-1-1, 5 KO's). Both fights were decision
victories.

IBF OKs Geale vs.
Mundine
Gary Shaw Productions
has been granted an “Exception to Regulations” by the IBF on
behalf of unified IBF/WBA middleweight champion, Daniel “Real
Deal” Geale (28-1, 15 KOs), to participate in an optional IBF
world title fight against Anthony Mundine (44-4, 26 KOs) prior
to his mandatory defense.
“Now that we got the green light from the IBF to make this
fight, I’m going to work hard to get everything completed,” said
promoter Gary Shaw. “This might be the biggest fight in
Australian boxing history as both fighters consider this a
grudge match.”
Geale tasted defeat for the first and only time when these two
fighters faced each other back in May of 2009. Geale lost a
controversial split decision and he’s looking to set the record

Jose Pedraza Remains
Undefeated
With Eighth Round TKO Of Tevin Farmer
Photos: Tom Casino - SHOWTIME
Unbeaten lightweight Jose Pedraza (11-0, 7 KOs), of San Juan,
Puerto Rico, dominated late replacement Tevin Farmer (7-4-1, 1
KO), of Philadelphia, Penn., en route to an eighth round TKO in
the main event Friday on ShoBox: The New Generation live on
SHOWTIME®.
Pedraza, who many regard as the best prospect to come out of
Puerto Rico since Miguel Cotto, began the night cautiously,
using the first round to feel out his opponent and get
comfortable in the ring. However, by the middle of the second
round Jose found his rhythm and took control of the fight. In
the third round, Pedraza enforced his will with an onslaught of
punches lasting for most of the last minute of the round.
Farmer, never quite recovering, was still a game opponent and
continued to show his heart through Pedraza’s domination.Click Here For More
Jose Pedraza - My
job is to win
By Anson Wainwright
- Maxboxing
In early 2011, Jose “The Sniper” Pedraza, one of Puerto Rico’s
most decorated amateurs of recent years, announced his
intentions to turn pro. He came in with a big reputation, having
won silver at the 2009 World Championships and 18 months into
his pro career, the 23-year-old has breezed to a gleaming 10-0
(6) record. The super featherweight switch-hitter hopes he can
one day join the pantheon of top Puerto Rican boxers but first,
he’ll have to continue to progress and earn those honours,
something one of his promoters, Gary Shaw, echoes, “I believe
Pedraza is a complete package and I see improvement in him in
every fight. He is young and there is no need to rush him as I
would rather he keep learning, see different styles, and then we
will launch him in 2013. Pedraza already has a youth title,
[then he can] net a regional title, and then a world title. He
has an award-winning smile, fan-friendly style and is just a
gentleman outside the ring. What else could a promoter ask for?”
Next up on the 12th October, he meets Tevin Farmer in Saint
Charles, Missouri. Click Here For More

The 36-year-old veteran outlanded the talented Puerto Rican

fight. The 25-year-old boxer-puncher rocked Darchinyan (38-5-1,
27 knockouts) with a big hook in the ninth round of the bout,
but it wasn't enough to put the former flyweight and junior

tenth round TKO over WBC light heavyweight champion “Bad” Chad

Ward battered him to the deck again in the tenth to end it. Time

Gary Shaw reflects
on Daniel Geale
and his incredible victory over Sturm
After arriving in the
states from Germany this week, promoter Gary Shaw reflects on
the incredible week he had with Daniel “Real Deal” Geale and his
team as the days led up to their big win against Felix Sturm.
Already the IBF Champion, Geale added Sturm’s World Boxing
Association (WBA) title, becoming the first Australian born
fighter to become a unified world champion.
“Sturm literally thought Daniel’s name was “Meal Deal” and found
out the hard way that he’s the “Real Deal,” Shaw said. “Sturm,
who acted as his own promoter for this event, must have been
occupied with the stresses of being a promoter to think Daniels
name was ‘Meal Deal.’ On the other hand, Team Geale was very
relaxed going into this fight. Just hours before the fight, we
were all hanging out in the dressing room joking around, and
laughing to the point we had tears in our eyes. I’ve never been
in a fight where the atmosphere was so calm. There was no
yelling, just very relaxed.” Click Here For More

Bad Chad Dawson -
I am the best at 175 and I will be the best at 168
By Jason Gonzalez -
MaxBoxing.com
It's always a win-win situation whenever you have two fighters
on the mythical pound-for-pound list, both still their primes,
face each other in the squared circle. On September 8, at the
Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, fight fans may very well
witness 2012's most compelling match-up. If there is an
adjective that could accurately describe the contest between
light heavyweight kingpin "Bad" Chad Dawson and 2011's "Fighter
of the Year" Andre "S.O.G." Ward, it would be "intriguing."
Dawson, a southpaw, is coming off a huge victory over
first-ballot Hall-of-Famer Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins in
the spring. That said, not many are giving Dawson a chance to
make the contractual weight of 168 pounds, let alone win the
fight. Dawson, a legitimate 175-pounder, opted to move seven
pounds south to challenge Ward, Showtime's "Super Six" champion
and linear champ, for his crown and supremacy at super
middleweight. Click Here For More
Darley Perez
Victorious On ESPN Friday Night Fights
By Carlos Cordoba
Photos: Marlene Marquez
Darley Perez 26-0, 19KOs earns a hard fought split decision
victory against Bahodir Mamadjonov 11-1, 7KOs in the main event
of ESPN’s “Friday Night Fights,” hosted by Gary Shaw Promotions
at the Morongo Casino and Resort in Cabazon, CA. The ten round
lightweight scrap was hotly contested. Judge Carla Caiz scored
the bout 95-94 for Mamadjonov while Max DeLuca and Daniel
Sandoval both scored the bout for Darley Perez with scores of
96-93 and 95-94 respectively.
It was clear from the outset of the bout that it was going to be
a strategic one; a classic battle between a conventional fighter
in Darley Perez and a southpaw in Bahodir Mamadjonov. Darley’s
strategy in the opening round seemed focused on his left hook,
which landed sporadically. Mamadjonov’s style was difficult to
figure out. It took Darley a while to get settled in front of
the southpaw. He was even rocked by a looping left hook in round
number two, but managed to survive the blow after being vividly
unsteady on his feet. Click Here For More

Darley Perez: Born
to Fight, Ready for the World
By Gabe Montoya ~
MaxBoxing.com
The beautiful thing about boxing is that it allows a fighter the
opportunity to literally fight his way into the life he desires.
Every day, a new potential champion discovers not only this
sport but the way out it represents. Colombian-born lightweight
contender Darley Perez, 25-0 (19), who battles Bahodir
Mamadjonov, 11-0 (7) at the Morongo Casino in Cabazon, CA (on
ESPN2's "Friday Night Fights") this weekend, is no exception.
However, Perez's journey began with a slightly different
purpose.
"I started boxing at 14 years old. I took it up as a hobby. I
liked futbol (soccer). I was an athletic kid," Perez told
Maxboxing.com Monday evening. "One of the things I wanted was to
learn how to defend myself. I got picked on in school a lot."Click Here For More

Gary Shaw Responds

Promoter Gary Shaw is concerned about the damage done in the
sport of boxing after the news Friday that Antonio Tarver tested

"It's very worrisome where our sport is heading these days with

its killing the sport and I hope the networks are not going to
lose interest. As promoters, we do our best to make sure

Q & A With IBF
Middleweight Champion Daniel Geale

Just over one year ago, after fighting all his previous fights
in Australia, IBF middleweight world champion Daniel Geale
(27-1, 15 KOs) made the long trek to Germany and dethroned
reigning-champion Sebastian Sylvester by split decision. After
that, Geale headed back down under, where he has defended the
title twice, both times at the Derwent Entertainment Centre in
Hobart, Tasmania. But Geale isn't planning to be a fighter who
only fights at home. "My last two fights were in Australia but I
want to travel the world and fight the best," he says. With
promoter Gary Shaw in his corner, Geale may be headed to the the
USA for his next fight.
You have defeated Roman Karmazin, Sebastian Sylvester, Eromsele
Albert and Osamunu Adama. What fight was your best performance?
They have been all good wins but probably the best one to watch
was Roman Karmazin. It was also great to beat Sylvester in
Germany for the world title. The fights with Albert and Adama
were tough fights in their own way.Click Here For More

In a grudge rematch, former world champion “Bad” Chad Dawson
(31-1, 17 KOs) was too young, too fast and too strong for
47-year-old WBC light heavyweight world champion Bernard “The
Executioner” Hopkins (52-6-2, 32 KOs) and took a twelve round
majority decision in a fight that never reached any heights on
Saturday night at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. After their
no-decision last October, Hopkins came out wrestling and
clinching in classic Hopkins fashion. Dawson was cut on the side
of his left eye by a headbutt in round four. Dawson was the
aggressor and as the fight progressed he often outworked the
future Hall of Famer. Dawson was cut over the right eye by a
punch in round eight. Hopkins tried a tackle in round eleven,
but Dawson never really let Hopkins back in the fight. Scores
were 117-111, 117-111, 114-114. Click Here For More

Roundtable Quotes
Things are so tense
leading up to Saturday’s grudge rematch between WBC light
heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins and Chad Dawson, that they
didn’t even try to hold the standard fight week press
conference. Hopkins and Dawson, however, did host a media
roundtable to discuss their showdown at Boardwalk Hall in
Atlantic City. Also on hand were heavyweights Seth “Mayhem”
Mitchell and Chazz Witherspoon, who collide in the HBO opener.
Bernard Hopkins: “I’m a throwback. I live in a time where it
is so microwavable that there is no time to cook, season, chop
or marinate any more. I’m the last of a dying [expletive] breed.
They were calling me old when I beat Trinidad 11 years ago. I
have proven who I am. The reason I’m here is because Dawson
didn’t do what he should have against Pascal. My biggest
motivation has been adversity. I don’t drink or smoke and if
some is drinking or smoking around me I get up. It’s called
discipline. This fight all you hear is ‘Chad is bigger. Chad is
stronger.’ Not that he is more talented.”
Chad Dawson: “It all depends on how Bernard comes in the
ring. If he comes to fight, that is great. If he comes to lie
down like he did last time, then I feel sorry for the people
that bought tickets or are going to watch on HBO. The first
fight wasn’t a long fight, but in the two rounds that it was, I
was the one trying to press the fight. I was trying to make the
action. Bernard just backed up the whole time and didn’t try to
make the fight. I think people saw the difference between the
size and the strength. It wasn’t many punches landed, but I did
land a good right hand in the first round and he found out that
night that I was serious. I have taken criticism in the past
that I wasn’t in the best of shape, but that night I was all
there. Mentally, physically, I was all there.Click Here For More

Ajose Olusegun:
Step Aside Not An Option With Danny Garcia
By Jake Donovan -

The message has been sent loud and clear: Ajose Olusegun has
waited long enough and plans to keep his place in line.
The 32-year old super lightweight contender is long overdue for
a shot at the title he watched change hands last month with

was nothing to write home about, but surrounded by controversy
on several levels.
Most notably was Morales missing weight the day before,
conceding the belt on the scales and then officially in the ring
when Garcia won handily. Unfairly flying under the radar was the
fact that Garcia landed the title shot that rightfully should
have gone to Olusegun. Click Here For More

Chad Dawson in camp

eager for rematch with Bernard Hopkins
By Andy Thibault
“Bad” Chad Dawson says he wants a fair fight with the guy who
landed on his back, then complained of a shoulder injury when
Dawson threw him off during last fall’s World Boxing Council
light heavyweight championship bout in Los Angeles. Dawson, who
played basketball at Hillhouse High School, gets his chance
April 28 at the Boardwalk Hall Arena in Atlantic City, N.J.
Dawson, 29, began training vigorously in Florida for the rematch
with 47-year-old Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins, his trainer,
Iceman John Scully, said from Fort Lauderdale Wednesday.
“This is the earliest Chad has ever reported to training camp –
that shows you how serious he is,” Scully said. “We started

Daniel Geale beats
Osumanu Odama
to retain the IBF Middleweight title
Daniel Geale and Billy
Dib both successfully defended their IBF titles today in
Tasmania, and now eye potentially bigger fights sometime this
year.
In the main event, Geale improved to 27-1 (15 KO) with an
unanimous decision victory over Osumanu Adama (20-3, 15 KO),
which went more or less as expected. Adama had his moments in
the middle rounds, but overall Geale was just clearly the
superior boxer, and keeps his IBF middleweight belt.
This was the second straight sort of "eh" for Geale, following
his August points win over Eromosele Albert. When he won the
belt from Sebastian Sylvester, we hoped then that he wouldn't
play hide-a-belt in Australia, facing nothing but sanctioning
body approved medicore opponents. Two defenses of that is fine,
really, but the hope now is that he moves on to the actual world
class fighters in the division, or at least the guys closer to
his level.

Gary Shaw Explains
Why WBCBOXING.TV
Webcast Was Cut Off
The live webcast on
WBCBOXING.TV, that was scheduled to show Daniel Geale vs.
Osumanu Adama for free, was being shown around the world against
the agreement of Gary Shaw Productions, forcing the stream to be
cut off in the U.S. and on the WBCBOXING.TV website.
Gary Shaw states, "The WBC has violated the agreement that was
set in place to show the stream live in the U.S .for free.
Because the WBC opened up the feed to the World, GSP had to kill
the signal. The WBC website was only given permission to stream
the feed in the U.S. and opening of the signal to the World
created problems. On behalf of GSP, we apologize for the
confusion."

Shaw Rips Angulo,
"He Truly Is A Dog!"
By William Trillo
Of all the great boxing action this weekend the fight that was
most talked about on Sunday was the James Kirkland vs. Alfredo
Angulo Jr. Middleweight brawl. There was no one who I wanted to
talk to more than Angulo’s former promoter Gary Shaw. I got in
touch with him Sunday afternoon and Shaw had plenty to say about
the night in Cancun Mexico.
Pound4Pound: You know Gary; I couldn’t help but think of you as
I watched Angulo punch himself out in the first round of his
fight against Kirkland on Saturday night.
Gary Shaw: First of all a real professional should not punch
himself out in one round. He should be able to go 12 hard rounds
unless you have not trained. A guy like Pacquiao throws a lot
more punches than that every round. Click Here For More
Gary Shaw: "Angulo
Reminded Me Of Jeff Lacy...
He Will Never Be The Same Fighter"
By Ben Thompson
"Angulo reminded me of Jeff Lacy. He never gave John Beninati
and GSP [Gary Shaw Productions] credit for rounding up the right
opponents in his career. We all knew who Angulo was...No
professional fighter at that level should shoot an entire load
in one round to where you're done for the rest of the fight. You
know, that's not true. Pacquiao throws a lot of punches, a lot,
and he's not done. There are other fighters that are more
conservative in their punches, but to me, it's all about good
karma...Angulo was just not a good person and good karma beat
him...That fight was set up for Angulo. It was to sacrifice
Kirkland. I think Golden Boy is in shock today, Miller must be
in shock today, and Cameron must be in shock today, you know,
because the wrong guy won. I mean, if you think Kirkland is what
he is, you don't bring him to Mexico to the fight. Now we'll see
if HBO goes back there for Angulo. We'll see how fast they're
running back for Angulo. I don't believe Angulo will ever be the
same. Just like Lacy was never the same, he will never be the
same fighter," stated promoter Gary Shaw, who shared his
thoughts on this past Saturday's barnburner between James
Kirkland and Alfredo Angulo, two fighters that Shaw once
promoted. You don't want to miss what else he had to say. Check
it out! Click Here For More

when you're telling the truth there are no tough questions.
There are alot of reasons fighters leave. First off, I'm not a
self promoter. I didn't get in this game so much to make money,
I do it for the love of the game. I'm one of the few promoters
who actually fall in love with the fighters.
You have promoters who come in and actually attempt to steal
fighters from me. You also have managers like Cameron Dunkin who
is my bitter enemy who will do anything to take fighters away
from me. He led Nonito Donaire and James Kirkland away from me.
I knew when Tim Bradley signed with Dunkin that our days were
numbered with him. Click Here For More

Gary Shaw Reacts To
WBC Ruling
By William Trillo
Promoter Gary Shaw is out of the country but when the WBC made
their ruling in regard to the Dawson vs. Hopkins debacle we felt
it was important to get his immediate thouhts so we gave Mr.
Shaw a call and he was quick to oblige our request.
When asked about the ruling that the fight would be declared a
Technical Draw and Hopkins would keep his WBC Belt Shaw said,
“Obviously this is their (the WBC’s) ruling and I honestly can’t
do anything about it, I personally don’t think the board did
right. The whole controversy is that Hopkins fouled first, he
was all over Chad’s back and neck and if Chad’s neck got hurt he
would have been told to continue. So the question is, did
Hopkins foul Chad first? In my estimation he did!” Click Here For More
Believe It Or Not!
Chad’s The Rightful Champ
By Carlos Cordoba -
Pound4Pound.com
Chad Dawson captured the WBC and Ring Magazine light heavyweight
titles in the most controversial of ways this past Saturday
night in the main event of “Believe It or Not,” presented by
Golden Boy Promotions in association with Gary Shaw Promotions,
Cerveza Tecate, and AT&T. The action was broadcast live on HBO
PPV from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. Referee Pat
Russell handed Dawson a technical knockout victory at the 2:48
mark of round number two.
Chad Dawson, 29, crouched in a defensive position decided to
lounge his shoulder forward, an act that is common in
professional boxing. He did so after Hopkins let loose with a
straight right that was unsuccessful. Hopkins momentum carried
him forward onto Chad Dawson’s back. Consequently, Dawson
reacted by shrugging him off with his shoulders. Hopkins falls
back, first landing on his feet then falling to the ground. This
is where the action stopped and the commotion began. Click Here For More
Electrifying
heavyweight Kimbo Slice, aka Kevin Ferguson, needed only 1:52 to
register a phenomenal knockout of Tay Bledsoe in tonight’s main
event on the “Rumble In The Heartland” card, presented by Gary
Shaw Productions and Legacy Communications, at Heartland Events
Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Slice (2-0, 2 KOs), who is co-promoted by Gary Shaw and Tony
Holden, continued to show improvement in the ring with
world-class trainer John David Jackson in his corner. The former
Internet combat fighting sensation came out fast and ended the
night with a powerful, one-punch overhand right, stopping
Bledsoe who remained motionless for several minutes. Slice’s
first pro fight lasted only 17 seconds. Click Here For More
Believe It Or Not
Lives Up To It’s Challenge!
B-Hop Gives Dawson The Cold Shoulder
By William Trillo,
Carlos Cordoba & Bret Newton - Pound4Pound.com
Ripley himself may not believe what transpired in the ring in
Los Angles as The light heavyweight title fight between Bernard
Hopkins (52-6-2,32 KO’s) and Chad Dawson (31-1,18 KO’s) became
nothing more than a circus sideshow that left all the patrons
(paid or not) chanting cries of Bull Sh*t and worse after Chad
Dawson was handed a interesting (to say the least) 2nd round
TKO.
Why were they crying you ask?
Because after a round that was light on action Bernard and Chad
went at it in round 2 for more of the same. Around the 2:48 mark
of the round Hopkins was on top of Chad’s shoulder and Dawson
pitched Hopkins off his shoulder and down through the ropes.
Hopkins immediately grabbed his shoulder and told the ref he
could not continue.
After a minute or two of Bernard rolling around on the canvas
referee Pat Russell called an end to the fight and awarded
Dawson a TKO victory. The crowd went into a tizzy and no matter
which fighter addressed the crowd afterward they were met with
an equal amount of uproar and boos. No one was happy and they
let their displeasure be known!
I guess it’s a good thing the promoters had to give most of the
tickets away to fill the house…at least no one will be asking
for their money back.
DeMarco Victory
Bathed In Linares Blood
By William Trillo,
Carlos Cordoba & Bret Newton - Pound4Pound.com
Lightweight Antonio DeMarco (26-1, 19 KO’s) chopped-up Jorge
Linares (31-2, 20 KO’s ) for 11 rounds and Linares gave back
almost as much as he got in a fight that will go down as an all
time classic. This was much more than just a simple give and
take battle as both tough warriors gave every ounce of their
courage and blood. Through the first few rounds it appeared
Linares was going to be in control but a small cut on the bridge
of his nose turned into a huge gash that proved to be the
beginning of his demise. DeMarco saw the blood flowing and
seized his moment, stopping the favorite Linares with a barrage
of punches at the 2:32 mark of round 11. Judges’ scorecards
revealed that Linares was clearly ahead at the time of the
stoppage 99-91, and 98-92 twice making the victory by DeMarco
all the more improbable. With the win Demarco takes home the
time WBC lightweight title.
