Heya Doug,
Just gotta put in my rant this week, making your life
a little more surreal. HEY KEN B. from Antioch..I'll
take that bet.
Lacy - Wants to fight Calzaghe (is it pronounced
CAL-ZAG-HE? Or CAL-ZA-GEH?) Anyway, no one wanted to
fight the Welshman and I see his record peppered with
some pretty good names. I give him credit for wanting
that fight, but I doubt Joe will leave the comfort of
Europe, and it would be almost suicide to go
there...they should have more fights here in Canada!
DAMMIT! Neutral terrain.
So, if lacy pulls this one off, and beats him, should
he move up? Get out of the ankle deep division, and
then test the water at 175? Unifying then targeting
glen Johnson would be a nice. Don't go for tarver yet,
he is a big boy. He had a bit of a hurdle making
weight, and I think that someone peed in the 168 pool.
And why do we always go to a "water" analogy in
boxing?
Heavy-wait division: Monte Barrett, is he just a
gatekeeper to the heavyweight contender ranks? I don't
know much about him, name rings a bell...but could be
just because he beat Guinn, after Guinn beat grant. I
like Rahman, I want to see him on top again, I think
he is PERFECT to breath life back into a boring
division (see, I went with oxygen as opposed to water
that time, and any comment on H20 won't work). Rahman
is loud and from what I remember of the campaign for
the 2nd fight with Lewis, he has a great sense of
humor. I'll be cheering for him against Quitschko. Or
better yet, RAHMAN/TONY in "battle of the bulge".
- Jody (aka Lowkey77)
I don't know how Calzaghe pronounces his name and I
don't care because he's never fought in the United
States. I don't care where they have the fight (by
the way, if they had it in Canada, I'd probably travel
to cover it there, especially if it landed in
Toronto), as long as it happens. If Calzaghe comes up
with some excuse not to face Lacy, I'm done with him.
I won't write another word about the Welshman and will
instead turn my attention to hyping a potential match
between Lacy and excellent WBA title holder Mikkel
Kessler.
If Calzaghe does take the fight (and I think he will)
and Lacy beats him I think the Florida native has more
options at 168 pounds than he does at 175. There's
Kessler like I mentioned, plus Jermain Taylor (who
wont' stay at 160 very long) and undefeated prospect
Libardo Andrade. Trust me, all three of those fights
are fight of the year candidates. F__k the light
heavyweights.
